Grand Charity Ball 2006
Avery Estate Agents held their first Grand Charity Ball on 5th March 2006.

In Memory of baby Jack Colin Tucker.

Our aim was to raise sufficient funds to purchase an incubator for Special Care Baby Unit, (SCBU) St Michaels Hospital, Bristol. Our fundraising began due to our close friend Jane Tucker and sadly the loss of her baby Jack .100% of the funds raised from our Charity Ball were added to the amount that Kingfisher Netball club (of which we are members) had already raised over the past 18 months. Many local businesses & friends supported the event, with 300 guests in attendance who enjoyed a three course meal, live entertainment, casino, grand draw & auction, the whole evening was a great success and we exceeded our aim raising a fantastic final figure of £22,000 - enough funds to purchase not one but two incubators, which were delivered to the unit, and in immediate use.

Due to the fact that we all thoroughly enjoyed our 1st Ball and so many guests were keen to support us again, Our 2nd Grand Charity Ball was held on 21st April, 07 held in a luxury marquee. The weather was superb and enabled guests to enjoy canapés & pre dinner drinks prior to the served meal. Some superb gifts were donated for the Auction kindly conducted once again by Mr Mike Ripley of fellow estate agents Stephen & Co. There was also a Grand Draw, Casino and a live 8 piece band plus the guests were joined by a surprise celebrity guest, Coronation Street star Johnny Briggs (alias Mike Baldwin).

Johnny attendance to the evening was kept a close secret from everyone, so many faces were absolutely amazed when he entered the room – it really was a picture! He was a lovely guy, inviting guests to take photos, provided autographs & personally promoted some of the auction lots which included signed England & Bath Rugby shirts, and donated his signed autobiography. Our Ball raised £10,000 & the money was used to purchase a monitoring system for SCBU which enables the carer to keep a close check on the baby and any vital signs of change.

Avery Estate Agents Drawing Competition

Avery invited several local junior schools to take part in a Drawing Competition for pupils to draw and colour their ideal home. The children who were picked as the winners were each given a prize and a £200.00 cheque from Avery for their school. The winner’s drawings are now used as ‘Moving House’ cards and Avery send a selection to each client upon exchange of contracts to forward to their family and friends advising them of their new address.
